Ferro & Silico Manganese

Tata Steel Limited pioneered Manganese Alloy making in India by setting up at Joda, Orissa. one of India’s first Ferro Alloy plants in 1958. Having discovered Manganese in 1929, Tata Steel is today the leading Manganese alloy producer in India.

Mines & Plants

The Manganese Mines are at Joda, around 250 km from Bhubneshwar. The Manganese mines were part of the Raw Material Division of Tata Steel prior to 1992. Manganese Ore produced in these mines are fed to the Ferro Alloy Plant at Joda as well as used for manufacture of Manganese Alloys through the conversion (tolled) route.

FAP Joda is the oldest continuously operating Ferro Alloy Plant in India, over 50 years old, and yet the best Ferro Manganese Plant in India. This state-of-the-art plant is capable of producing 50,000 tonnes of Manganese Alloys (High Carbon Ferro Manganese and High Carbon Silico Manganese) The Sukinda Chrome Mines and Ferro Alloy Plants at Joda and Bamnipal are certified under ISO 9002, ISO 140001 and OHSAS.
