Mr. T. V. Narendran
Managing Director - Tata Steel India and South East Asia
Mr. T.V. Narendran is a Mechanical Engineer from REC (NIT), Trichy. He joined Tata Steel after completing his MBA from IIM Calcutta in 1988. He is a Chevening Scholar and has also attended the Advanced Management Programme in CEDEP - INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France. He became the Managing Director of Tata Steel India and South East Asia on November 1, 2013.
Mr. Narendran worked in the International Trading Division of Tata Steel from 1988 to 1997 wherein he spent five years in Dubai looking after Tata Steels' exports to the Middle East. From 1997 to 2001, he spent time in Tata Steels' marketing and sales division and was involved in market development work for the Cold Rolling Mill Project, Supply Chain Management, Sales Planning, etc. From 2001 to 2003, he was the Chief of Marketing & Sales (Long Products) and played a key role in building the 'Tata Tiscon' brand and the distribution network for the same. From 2003 to 2005, he worked with Mr. B. Muthuraman, the then Managing Director of Tata Steel, as his Principal Executive Officer.
He was actively involved in the Tata Steel's first overseas acquisition, NatSteel, and was seconded there as an Executive Vice President in 2005. He ran operations in NatSteel thereafter as the Deputy President (Operations) and took over as the President & CEO on January 1, 2008. He played a key role in the integration of NatSteel and Tata Steel.
Before being appointed as MD - Tata Steel India and South East Asia, on November 1, 2013, Mr. Narendran was the Vice President - Safety, Flat Products & Long Products Divisions of Tata Steel.
During his stint in NatSteel, Mr. Narendran was a director on the Board of South East Asia Iron & Steel Institute (SEAISI) and also served as the President of the ASEAN Iron & Steel Federation (AISIF) from 2007 to 2009. He was also the Vice Chairman of the CII (India Business Forum) in Singapore.
He is currently on the Boards of Tata Steel Limited, Tata Steel Europe, CEDEP, XLRI and World Steel Association. He is currently the Chairman of CII, Jharkhand.
Mr. Koushik Chatterjee
Group Executive Director (Finance and Corporate)
Mr. Koushik Chatterjee is an Honours Graduate in Commerce from Calcutta University and a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. A Wholetime Director on the Board, he was appointed as the Group Executive Director (Finance and Corporate) w.e.f. September 19, 2013.
Mr. Koushik Chatterjee joined Tata Steel in 1995. During his stint in the Company, he worked in the areas of Corporate Finance and Planning. During the years 1996-1998, he was also a visiting faculty in Corporate Finance at XLRI, Jamshedpur. In 1998, he was transferred to the Tata Steel Head Office in Mumbai and subsequently to Tata Sons Limited in the Group Executive Office (GEO). He became General Manager - Corporate Finance, Tata Sons, in 2002. During his tenure in Tata Sons Limited, he was involved in Mergers & Acquisitions activities including privatisations and joint ventures. He was also the lead facilitator in the Groupwide rollout of the Economic Value Added (EVA) initiative for the major Tata companies.
Mr. Chatterjee rejoined Tata Steel on August 1, 2003 and was appointed the Vice President (Finance) w.e.f. August 1, 2004. During his tenure, Mr. Chatterjee has led the first overseas acquisition of the Company - NatSteel Asia which has 2 mtpa finishing facilities in 7 countries in South East Asia. He subsequently led the acquisition of a 1.7 mtpa Millennium Steel (now Tata Steel Thailand) in Thailand. In 2006-07, he played a critical role in the acquisition of Corus Group plc for USD 13.7 billion, leading the Country's largest capital raising process for the acquisition.
With the announcement of the new Tata Steel Group post the acquisition of Corus, Mr. Chatterjee was appointed as Group Chief Financial Officer w.e.f. January 1, 2008. He was inducted into the Board of the Company as a Wholetime Director w.e.f. November 9, 2012. He has been responsible for Group Financial Reporting, Investor Relations, Financing Strategy including debt and equity raising, Corporate M&A, Risk Management and Compliance, Taxation Strategy and planning and co-ordination of statutory and management reporting.
As the Group Executive Director (Finance and Corporate), in addition to maintaining responsibility of the company's finance function, Mr. Chatterjee is responsible for the Tata Steel Group Corporate functions including Legal and Regulatory Affairs, Corporate Communications, Strategic Procurement, Information Systems, Group Investments, Global Mining Projects and Assurance.
He is on the Board of several Tata Steel Group companies, in India and abroad, including Tata Steel Europe, NatSteel Asia Pte. Limited, Tata Steel (Thailand) Public Company Limited, Southern Steel Berhad, Malaysia, and others. He is Chairman of the Boards of Tata Metaliks Limited and the Tinplate Company of India Limited.
Mr. Chatterjee was declared one of India's best CFOs by Business Today Magazine in 2005 and 2006 and by CNBC in 2007. More recently (March 2012), he has been awarded the Best Performing CFO in the Metals Sector by CNBC TV18. He was declared India's "Best Executive" for 2009 by Asia Money Magazine. He is also a frequent speaker in various conferences in India and abroad including the McKinsey Global CFO Forum 2008, Economist Conferences, London Business School and CII organized conferences. He is a member of the Primary Market Advisory Committee on Capital Markets of SEBI and was a member of the Takeover Regulations Advisory Committee of SEBI, which drafted the new Takeover Code. He has recently been appointed as the first Indian on the Global Preparers Forum which is advisory body of the International Accounting Standards Board, London.
Mr. Alok Kanagat
Vice President - Engineering & Project
Mr. Alok Kanagat joined the Company in April 2013. He has completed a B. Tech in Chemical Engineering from IIT Mumbai and an Executive MBA from University of Leeds, U.K.
Prior to his joining Tata Steel, Mr. Kanagat has had a distinguished career with high profile companies like Hindustan Petroleum, Hindustan Unilever, Reliance Industries and Tata Power. He has vast experience in execution of large Petroleum Refinery and Power Projects.
Mr. Anand Sen
President - TQM & Steel Business
Mr. Anand Sen joined the Company as a Graduate Trainee in 1981. He is a B. Tech from one of the premier engineering institutes of India, IIT, Kharagpur and has earned his MBA from IIM, Kolkata.
He has also completed an Executive MBA from CEDEP at INSEAD.
Mr. Andrew Page
Mr. Andrew Page has a degree in Physics from Southampton University, UK and an MBA from Warwick University, UK. He has attended executive management training at Wharton University of Pennsylvania and specialized degree level training in Health and Safety. He has worked for Tata, Corus and its predecessor, British Steel for over 33 years.
He started his career as a graduate trainee in Llanwern, South Wales, UK, then moved through a range of first line supervision and manufacturing management jobs in iron making, steel making and rolling before moving to North Wales and the steel coating operations based at Shotton, North Wales in 1994. In 1996, he did a year’s exchange to CSX Transportation, the second largest railroad company in the USA working in sales and marketing. On his return he was appointed Director Coated Products for British Steel and then Managing Director of the Coated Products Business of Corus (merger of British Steel and Hoogovens). In 2002 he was appointed as Managing Director of the integrated operations of Corus, Long Products. In April 2007, Corus was acquired by Tata Steel and in July 2008 he was appointed as Director Health and Safety for the Tata Steel Group. Since June 2015, he has taken an additional responsibility of Vice President, Safety for Tata Steel India and SEA operations.
Mr. Arun Misra
Vice President - Gopalpur Project and MD - Tata Steel SEZ
Mr. Arun Misra joined the Company as a Graduate Trainee in 1988. After a B. Tech in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Kharagpur, Mr. Misra earned his Diploma in General Management from CEDEP at FRANCE.
Subsequently, he completed Mining and Beneficiation Program at University of New South Wales Sydney, Australia.
Mr. B. K. Das
Vice President - Iron Making
Mr. B.K. Das is a B. Tech (Mechanical Engineering) from IIT, Kharagpur and M. Tech (Production Engineering) from NIT, Jamshedpur. He joined Tata Steel as a Graduate Trainee in 1980.
Over the period of time, he has worked in Raw Material Bedding & Blending, Sinter Plants and Mechanical Maintenance.
In 2013, he was promoted as Dy. Vice President Coke, Sinter & Iron Making and in 2014, he was redesignated as Vice President Coke, Sinter & Iron, CSI, the position he currently holds.
Mr. Chanakya Chaudhary
Group Director - Corporate Communication & Regulatory Affairs
Mr. Chanakya Chaudhary completed Mechanical Engineering from BITS Pilani and joined as a Graduate Trainee of the 1988 batch. He began his career in the Jharia Coal Mines and subsequently moved to TQM.
In 2001, he was redesignated as a Resident Executive in Delhi and later promoted as the Chief Resident Executive, New Delhi. In 2013, he was appointed as Group Director Corporate Comm. & Regulatory Affairs.
Mr. Dibyendu Bose
Group Director - Investments & New Ventures
Mr. Dibyendu Bose is a B. Tech. in Mining from the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad. He has also completed MBA and a PGDBM from IIM Kolkata. In his career spanning over 29 years with the Tata Steel Group, he first joined Tata Steel Collieries in 1984 as a Graduate Trainee.
Subsequently, Mr. Bose worked with the International Trading Division of Tata Steel in 1992 - 1997; served as Tata Steel's West Asia Representative from 1997 to 2001 in Dubai and Chief of M&S of Tata Pipes from 2001 to 2004.
He held the post of Managing Director, TM International Logistics Limited (TMILL), a joint venture company of Tata Steel Ltd., NYK Holding (Europe) BV & IQ Martrade of Germany for more than seven years. TMILL's arena of services included Shipping, Port Operations, Freight Forwarding, Harbour Services and CHA & Inland Logistics. On his return to Tata Steel in 2013, he was appointed as Group Director Investments & New Ventures.
Ms. Dipali Talwar
Group General Counsel
Ms. Talwar has over 20 years of global experience in law, policy and governance working as both a legal professional and in a corporation.
Having started her career as a litigator at the High Court at Delhi and the Supreme Court of India, Dipali had an opportunity to work on seminal constitutional, civil and criminal law cases. Her career progression saw her emerging as a corporate law and regulatory policy advisor to government, international institutions and companies in sectors ranging from infrastructure, power, oil and gas, telecommunications, media, auto, engineering, consumer goods, etc. in stints in legal practice and with Arthur Andersen in India.
Dipali's in house counsel experience was heralded with her move into Pfizer as Director Legal & General Counsel India & South Asia followed by a role as Senior Director, Global Business Transactions, New York.
Prior to joining Tata Steel, Ms. Talwar was advising multinational biotech, pharma, energy and infrastructure companies on transactions, market entry, expansion strategies, investment structuring and joint ventures, regulatory policy and legal assessment of risk and compliance. Dipali is a member of the Delhi Bar Association, New York State Bar, Member of the US India Business Council Legal Executive Committee, Advisory Board Member - Global Leaders in Law(association of only invited Global General Counsels) , Women Corporate Director's New York. She is empanelled on the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Board of Directors and has served on the Board of Pfizer companies and non-profit organisations.
Dipali completed her Masters in Law (LL.M) from Harvard Law School, Cambridge, USA and Bachelors of Law (LL.B) (Honours) & Bachelors of Arts (Honours) from the University of Delhi.
Mr. Peeyush Gupta
Vice President - Steel Marketing & Sales
Mr. Peeyush Gupta is a Mechanical Engineer from Engineering College, Kota, Rajasthan and has completed MBA with specialisation in Finance and Marketing from Mcgill University, Montreal. He joined Tata Steel in 1993 as a Senior Export Officer.
Over the period of time he has worked in the International Trade Division, Marketing Division, TOP Initiatives in Marketing, Financial Controller (Long Product), Chief (Marketing & Sales - Flat Products), M&S.
In 2011, he was appointed as the President & CEO - Tata Steel (Thailand) and on his return from Thailand in 2013, he was appointed as Dy. VP - Steel Marketing & Sales, M&S. In 2014, he was redesignated as VP - Steel Marketing & Sales, his current position.
Mr. Rajesh Ranjan Jha

Mr. Rajesh Ranjan Jha joined Tata Steel as a Graduate Trainee in 1990 after completing B.E. (Mechanical). Subsequently, he did his MBA in Finance and Marketing.
Mr. Rajeev Singhal
Vice President - Raw Material
Mr. Rajeev Singhal is a B. Tech. (Mechanical, IT, Banaras Hindu University) and has completed a PGDBM in Marketing from XLRI, Jamshedpur. He joined Tata Steel as a Graduate Trainee in 1985.
After his initial stint in Manufacturing at the Steel Works he was transferred to Marketing & Sales Function in the Tubes Division. He was also responsible for International Business Exports and subsequently Chief Sales Manager (North), and Chief M & S - Long Products.
In 2010, he was transferred as Executive-in-Charge Ferro Alloys & Minerals. In 2013, he was promoted as Dy. Vice President Raw Material and in 2014, he was redesignated as Vice President Raw Material.
Mr. Rajiv Kumar
Vice President Operation - KPO
Mr Rajiv Kumar (46 years), Vice President - Operations, of Tata Steel's Kalinganagar Steel Project is an alumni of the illustrious BIT, Sindri. After completing his engineering in Metallurgy, he had joined Tata Steel as a graduate trainee in 1990 and has handled several critical roles in his career, including that of Chief of Hot Strip Mill and Chief of Wire Division. He was also the Principal Executive Officer (PEO) of the Company, working closely with the Managing Director in MD's Office.
In his current role as Vice President Operations at Kalinganagar since 15th June 2014, he is responsible for taking forward the organisation and ensuring that systems and processes are in place for the commercial production of the 1st phase of the prestigious green field expansion project of Tata Steel.
The Kalinganagar project of Tata Steel is a 6 Million tonne per annum steel project, in which the first phase of 3 million tonne per annum is being implemented at an investment of Rs 25,164 crore and which is likely to be commissioned by the last quarter of 2014-15.
Though a technocrat, apart from technology he has keen interest in the areas of sustainable development and social responsibility.
Mr. Rajiv Mukherji
Group Director - Strategic Procurement
Mr. Rajiv Mukherji is a Bachelor of Arts from Calcutta University and an alumni of IIM(A)(MEP) and INSEAD (MDP) and has over 28 years of experience in Tata Steel. Over the years, he has worked in varied functions at Tata Steel including Marketing & Sales , e-commerce and International Trading wherein he served in the capacity of Chief International Trading Division of Tata Steel.
He held the post of
Managing Director, Tata NYK Shipping Pvt Ltd, a 50:50 joint venture company
between Tata Steel and NYK Line of Japan, one of the largest and leading
shipping companies in the world for more than seven years. Tata NYK was
established in 2007 to meet the bulk carrier needs of the growing sea trade of
Tata companies and the Indian market and its area of services included dry bulk
ship owning, operating and chartering with vessel portfolio of Capesize,
Panamax and Supramax vessels.
On his return to Tata Steel in November 2013, he was appointed as Group Director Strategic Procurement and currently operates from IJmudein, Netherlands. His current responsibilities for Group Strategic Procurement cover Coal and Coke, Iron ore, Industrial gases, IT and Shipping & Logistics.
Mr. R. Ranganath
Vice President - Finance
Mr. R. Ranganath qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1984 and joined the Company in 2013. Prior to his joining Tata Steel, he was Director (Finance), Cairn Energy India Ltd.
He has also worked in different Finance and non Finance roles in Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. for 25 years.
Mr. Sandip Biswas
Group Executive Vice President - Finance
Mr. Sandip Biswas is an Honours Graduate in Commerce from Calcutta University and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and also the Institute of Company Secretaries of India.
Currently, he is the Group Executive Vice President - Finance for Tata Steel Limited. In his role, he oversees the Tata Steel Group's Financing Strategies, Capital Structure, Mergers and Acquisitions, Planning and Execution of capital raising activities for debt and equity, liquidity management, foreign exchange risk management, investor relations activities and corporate legal among others.
Mr. Sudhansu Pathak
Vice President - Steel Manufacturing
Mr. Sudhansu Pathak completed his degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Punjab University, followed by a PGDBM in Finance & Marketing from XLRI, Jamshedpur. He joined as a Graduate Trainee in 1984.
Over the period of time, he has worked in Steel Making, (LD1, LD2), Improvement & TQM as Chief, ASPIRE (Long Products) and headed the Manufacturing Facility of Flat Products.
In 2013, he was promoted as Dy. Vice President Steel Manufacturing. In 2014, he was redesignated as Vice President Steel Manufacturing.
Mr. Sunil Bhaskaran
Vice President (Corporate Services)
Mr. Bhaskaran joined the company as a Management Trainee in 1987. Prior to that, he completed his B. Tech from IIT, Delhi in 1985, followed by a post graduation in Management from IIM, Kolkata in 1987.
Subsequently he has completed his GMP from Cedep at INSEAD, France in 2000. He was with Tata International from 2001 till 2005.
Mr. Suresh Dutt Tripathi
Vice President - Human Resource Management
Mr. Suresh Dutt Tripathi joined Tata Steel in October 2012. He has been working as an HR professional for the last 30 years.
Mr. Tripathi started his career as a Management Trainee with Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL) and has worked in Public as well as Private Sectors (IT, Chemical, Education, etc.).
Prior to joining Tata Steel, Mr. Tripathi worked as President - Group HR, SRF Ltd. Mr. Tripathi has done his Masters in Physics from University of Delhi and Post Graduate Diploma in Social Work from University of Calcutta. An alumnus of Ashorne Hill Management College, U.K., he is trained in a number of fields in HR.
Mr. Suresh Kumar
Vice President - Shared Services
Mr. Suresh Kumar completed a B. Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from IIT, Kanpur, followed by a PGDBM in Finance from XLRI, Jamshedpur. He joined Tata Steel as a Graduate trainee in 1980.
Over the last 30+ years he has worked in the Rolling Mills, Steel Making, Mechanical Maintenance & Capability Building.
In 2006, he was transferred as Chief (Mechanical Maintenance). In 2009, he was transferred as Chief - People Development. In 2011, he was transferred as Chief (Manufacturing), Long Products. In 2013, he was promoted as Dy. Vice President Shared Services. In 2014, he was redesignated as Vice President Shared Services.
Dr. T. Venugopalan
Dr. T. Venugopalan obtained B. Tech and M. Tech degrees in Metallurgical Engineering from IIT, Madras and subsequently got the Doctorate Degree from REC, Rourkela, Sambalpur University, Odisha. He is currently CTO (New Projects) of Tata Steel Limited.
He joined Tata Steel in 2001 with about twenty seven years' experience in Steel companies such as SAIL - RSP, Nagarjuna Steel Limited and Ispat Industries Limited.
